Only twenty-five percent of the people in the United States make formal preparations for the end of their lives. Such preparations include wills and trusts for distributing titled assets; holding estate sales and making a list of recipients for non-titled assets; knowing what to expect in life-limiting illnesses, signing advance care directives, and giving family instructions for end of life care; writing obituaries and planning funerals; ascertaining Medicare benefits for end of life care and VA benefits for funerals and survivors. Often most or all of these preparations become the burden of family members who may be unsure how to proceed.
The Lake Eustis Institute and Cornerstone Hospice believe the cause of most people’s end of life planning procrastination is a lack of information rather than an unwillingness to face the inevitable. These two organizations have partnered to present a symposium on Best Exit Strategies for a Satisfying End of Life at the Institute on April 23 & 24 from 9 AM to 3:30 PM (lunch provided). The fee is $45 for both days. Click below to reserve your place or by calling 352.357.3995. Reservations are required and the deadline is April 21, 2010. Early reservation is encouraged because participation is limited to forty people.
Over the course of the two days, six workshops will be presented. By the end of the second day, all participants will have had an opportunity to attend every workshop. Workshop topics include: Legal Issues, Downsizing, Life-limiting Diseases, Funerals, Medicare Benefits, and Veteran Benefits. Workshop presenters are:
