1. What is a lifelong learning center? It is a place that offers learning opportunities for everyone, but most often for adults.

  2. Is lifelong learning like continuing education or adult education? Yes, because it continues one's education and it is usually for adults. No, because those programs are usually job related and award degrees, certificates, and credits. Lifelong learning classes are for the pure joy of learning. Attendance is not taken, grades are not given, there is little homework, and no credits, certificates, or degrees are awarded.

  3. I've heard of the Osher Lifelong Learning Centers. Is the Lake Eustis Institute like those centers? Yes, the curricula are similar, and no, because LEI is not affiliated with any university.

  4. How often do you have classes? We offer programming in the fall and the spring from September through May. The programming is offered in four-week and two-week sessions and most classes in those sessions meet once a week for 90 minutes.

  5. Where do you get your faculty? Our faculty is composed of academics from Central Florida. Most of them teach at one or more of the region's colleges and universities. All are experts in their areas of interest.

  6. How do I get information on your classes? Everything is listed on this website at www.lakeeustisinstitute.org/classes and www.lakeeustisinstitute.org/workshops&symposia.

  7. How do I enroll in a class? Follow the directions on the webpage or call 352.357.3995.

  8. How is the Institute funded? The Institute is a not-for-profit organization and its funding comes from fees, donations, and grants.

  9. How is the Institute governed and administrated? Governance is by a volunteer board of directors. The Institute is administrated by a part-time executive director.

  10. Do you only have classes in Eustis, Florida? Eustis is our main campus, but with a facility and enough students we will offer programming anywhere in Lake County. People at a distance can participate through the use of Skype, a web based video conferencing program.
